About Library

Old Name Shri Swami Vivekanand Shikshan Shantha Kolhapur’s College of Education, Osmanabad and New Name  Shrimati Sushiladevi College of Education, Osmanabad Library has established in the year 1960. The Library is located in the heart of the Institution and therefore is easily accessible to the classroom.

In the first month of the every academic year an orientation programme conducted for the benefit of the new students. The library is being constantly augmented by the acquisition of latest books, Journals. The Library has adopted the Dewey Decimal classification system

[19th edition] for the classifying the books.

The Library has more than 16213 Books in Academic & References,600 Bounded Volume of  Journals periodicals,50 CDs, Teaching Aids etc. The library has also subscribed to N-LIST Online Journals consortia of INFLIBNET, Ahmadabad.

One of the best communication libraries in this area. It has the area of 1950.57 Squares Feet. Our library in-house functions are functioning partially automatic with help of SOUL Software.

Software for University Libraries (SOUL) is an state-of-the-art integrated library management software designed & developed by the INFLIBNET Centre based on requirements of college and university libraries. It is a user-friendly software developed to work under client-server environment. The software is compliant to international standards for bibliographic formats, networking and circulation protocols. After a comprehensive study, discussions and deliberations with the senior professionals of the country, the software was designed to automate all house keeping operations in library. The latest version of the software i.e. SOUL 2.0 was released in January 2009. The database for new version of SOUL is designed for latest versions of MS-SQL and MySQL (or any other popular RDBMS). SOUL 2.0 is compliant to international standards such as MARC 21 bibliographic format, Unicode based Universal Character Sets for multilingual bibliographic records and NCIP 2.0 and SIP 2 based protocols for electronic surveillance and control.

OBJECTIVES OF THE LIBRARY

  1. To provide necessary resources for study & research in field of B.ed special interest to the students, research scholars and / college.
  2. To assist the faculty in keeping abreast of development in his / her field.
  3. To provide library facilities and services necessary for the success of all formal programmes of instructions.
  4. To bring books, students and scholars together under condition which    encourage reading for pleasure, self-discovery, personal growth and the sharpening of intellectual curiosity.
  5. To provide modern literature print or digital to the students to enhance their studying ability.
  6. To provide current library materials and databases that support the academic curriculum.
  7. Work closely with users; know their needs and interests.

  • Collection of well-known and prize winning books in English, Marathi and Hindi to provide quality literature.​The library is well equipped, up-to-date variety of books. It has more than 16213 as on 31th March 2022. Textbooks and Reference books. Huge collection of Human Right, Women’s Development, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, Swami Vivekanada, Mahtama Gandhi autobiographies and biographies of persons in different fields to promote reading habit among students. Separate collection of books for the students preparing for competitive examinations.

  • 5 daily news papers of state and National level in English,  Marathi. Magazine on various disciplines are subscribed.
